Hyperpigmentation was something that I never worry about, thinking that being Asian I am not prone to sun damage. I started to notice a handful of tiny light spots on my cheeks and on the back of my hands despite using sunscreen everyday. I guess fate did teach me a lesson that everyone is prone to sun damage and everyone ages. Your best bet for prevention is a good sunscreen (I have been trying a few, I haven't found my holy grail sunscreen yet) and protective serums.
I am currently using the Grown Alchemist Detox Serum Antioxidant +3 in the morning. Antioxidant neutralises free radicals in the skin that are caused by UV rays and pollutant. This serum contains tri-peptides and antioxidants to leave the skin hydrated and also to protect the skins from further damages. As usual all Grown Alchemist products smells amazing (and their packaging looks smart on your shelves and in your flatlays), and I love the watery texture. I just rub it between my hands and pat on my skin after toner and before moisturiser
For night time I use the Grown Alchemist Brightening Serum Phyto Complex & Rumex Leaf Extract, a brightening serum to target hyperpigmentation and improves luminosity. I like the gel-like texture, it absorbs well and I layer this under my nightime face oil. I honestly think that this serum has lighten one of the more prominent spot on my top cheek and I will keep using it.
I recommend both products, even if you are looking for just a preventative measure, they are affordable, gentle, smells amazing and most importantly, effective!
