My skin has been fine for many many months and recently I started experiencing clogged pores and little cystic acne across my cheeks and my chin. Those areas also feel raw and red. My current favourite sheet masks don't seem to do it anymore to address my sensitivity issue, and I have cut back on the use of my acid toner.
So this caused me to re-assess my skincare routine and products, came across this YouTuber Gothamista. Her knowledge and passion in skincare ingredients across all products made me trusted her as a skincare expert especially Korean skincare.
After spending hours on her channel, I am now convinced that I should seriously try out her recommendations (she has glowy, poreless skin) and stop worrying about jumping to the K-beauty bandwagon and do what is right for my skin.
Of course, other than skincare I have been trying out a few cult Korean beauty products (thanks to my other obsession, Asian Beauty Reddit). Also, thanks to my husband who went to Seoul and got me a few things.
Read on for my current favourite K-beauty products:
COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch is my skin saver. The patches heal acnes and scarring. I have backups for these and they are so cheap.
Missha First Treatment Essence is one of those cult products that everyone has to try. I prefer this over the very expensive SKII Treatment Essence. Missha's version (I bought the Moist version) is super hydrating and smells nicer.
For added hydration in the morning, I pat on Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner before my moisturiser. The texture is slightly thicker than Missha FTE. I would add more layers depending on how my skin feels.
I have been enjoying Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb eye cream sample, a gel-cream that absorbs well. My concealer sits nicely on top.
Not pictured is COSRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid. I use this once or twice a week after cleansing, leave it on for a few minutes before other skincare at night. This takes a few weeks to work but I am seeing less congestion in my skin.
My makeup saver, my hero product is J.One Jelly Pack. This has replaced all my face primers. My skin looks hydrated and glowy all day long. My foundation sits better on top. It is life-changing. The tip is to pat the product on your skin until it gets less tacky.
Laneige Lip Mask is one thing that I can not live without. I put this on my lips without fail every night and when I woke up my lips feel moisturised and not chapped.
On to the makeup. I have been enjoying the Pony Effect Mattifying Loose Powder, Pony Effect Arti Stick Highlighter in Dreamlike, Holika Holika Jewel Light Waterproof Eye pencils (the best affordable shimmer eyeliners ever!) and Etude House Dr Mascara Fixer (a lash primer and godsend for straight Asian lashes).
