New Year, New Work Wardrobe

2018 and everyone is back at work. A new year means a fresh start therefore I can't stop thinking about an updated workwear wardrobe.

I am not a conventional workwear person, I prefer blazers over thirts or silk shirts with jeans. However, I adore skirts and find that the right skirt have the power to change/elevate your work outfit.

I have been eyeing this Altuzarra skirt for a long time (almost a year!) and finally bought it when it appeared on TheRealReal. What caught my eyes about this fantastic skirt is the perfect khaki green shade and the versatility. The skirt has a perfect balance of work appropriate and dinner ready.

I love styling this skirt with a good black turtleneck top. For warmer days, I would pair it with a camisole or a white t-shirts or simple blouses. The options are endless.

Worn here with Manolo Blahnik heels (similar style here) and Muji ribbed turtleneck sweater (similar here).

A Day in New York City - Travel Photo Diary and Travel Guide

For those who have read this post, you will know how much I love New York City.

I visited again recently (who is ever going to get tired of NYC?) and I collaborated with David Everly, a super talented photographer and designer for a shoot around the city. We went to some of my favourites spots, The Public Library, Soho and Brooklyn Bridge. I'm wearing the best cable knit sweater that I have ever seen, the Everlane Oversized Cable Turtleneck.

Below is a list of some of my all-time favourite spots and recommendations in NYC:

Eat: Magnolia Bakery, Shake Shack, Momofuku Noodle Bar, Milk Bar, Katz's Delicatessen, Russ and Daughters, Egg Shop, Café Gitane, Socarrat, Dirty French, Estela, Le CouCou, Joe's Pizza, Grimaldi's Pizza, NoMad

Fine Dining: Daniel, Per Se, Eleven Madison Park

Coffee: Saturday NYC, Toby's Estate in Williamsburg, Happy Bones, Little Canal

Shop (not department stores): The Line, ABC Home and Carpet, Kith, Bird, Glossier, Mansur Gavriel, C.O Bigelow, Opening Ceremony

How to Style a T-shirt for the Festive Season

T-shirts are my wardrobe staples. Other than good old plain t-shirt, I've always been collecting band t-shirts of my favourite bands like Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails for a few years. However, there is nothing like a good vintage band t-shirts, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest do the best graphics in my opinion. You can buy them from Etsy or brands like Madeworn.

I found this Karl Lagerfeld-Iron-Maiden spin-off tee from Bleached Good which I can pair with pretty much anything like my COS grey wool blazer (similar item here), Paige Denim Colette frayed denim, Balenciaga clutch and strappy Isabel Marant heels (similar item here).

I think this is a perfect party look for someone who is not into sequins or metallics. Add lipstick and heels and you are good to go.

Fall Winter Wardrobe Look #2

Who doesn't love a good floral dress? For me, even better if it's a long sleeved midi dress. This Zara dress (similar one here) has a very Valentino vibe, perfect for fall and garnered a few compliments from strangers. A winner.

I love styling the dress with an oversized leather biker jacket and high heeled lace up boots to add a bit of edge.

Worn here with BLK DNM leather jacket, Saint Laurent laced up boots, Céline earrings and sunglasses. Beauty note: Ellis Faas Creamy lips in R101 Blood Red (smudged in with fingers)

Fall Winter Wardrobe Look #1

Fall is finally here in San Francisco. I teamed up with the talented Angie Silvy for a four-part lookbook shoot featuring my favourite pieces in my wardrobe.

I believe in buying less but investing in good quality pieces. The items in the first look is not new, most of them are 6 months to one year old.

I have been wearing the navy Everlane Cashmere V-Neck sweater on repeat. This piece is worth the investment because of the soft texture and its ability to keep me warm.

Worn here with COS tweed oversized blazer, Paige Denim Colette jeans and Manolo Blahnik Carolyne pumps.

Seeing Red

I have never really owned a piece of red clothing. It could be because I am Chinese, and red has been associated with festivity or a traditional wedding in my culture. Or maybe I am just afraid of this powerful and loud colour!

The only red coloured item I incorporated in my wardrobe is a red lipstick. M.A.C Russian Red, NARS Jungle Red and Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Always Red are some of my favourite reds. A red lip brightens my face with all monochrome outfit.

After seeing Eva Chen on the streets on NYC Spring Summer 2018 Fashion Week, I am inspired and am looking forward to adding some reds to my wardrobe. I would ease in by starting with a sweater like Eva's.

Hopefully I will gather the courage for a red dress or a coat one day?
